November 9, 2009The War in Iraq-essay by Tudor Panait
The war in Iraq was and still is a big mistake and these paragraphs will prove why.
The war in Iraq was as pointless as eating food when you’re already full, you don’t have to but you do it anyway.
The
Most of the United States population thought and still think that the war was because Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and Bush wanted to liberate Iraq but the real reason was for oil as John McCain so put it in this video (http://crooksandliars.com/2008/05/02/john-mccain-admits-iraq-war-was-over-oil#comment-565138) He says that he will have a new policy that will eliminate the dependency on the oil from the middle east and they wont need to send their young men and woman to fight in Iraq for it. So was the war only for oil?
some will disagree and say that it was a fight on terrorism but the truth is Iraq or Saddam had no such part in the 9/11 attack on the world trade centre as BBC explains here.( BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/3118262.stm )
The oil the U.S controls does not match up for the people lost and the money put into this war:
End of December 2003- 347 died
End of December 2004- 848 died
End of December 2005- 856 died
End of December 2006- 638 died
Total dead by December 2006- 2689 died
According to a “voice of people” article in the Chicago Tribune, about 1700 dead as of July 2005, as of 6-13-2006 there are 20,500 war dead.
20,500 deaths and over three trillion U.S dollars over a war fought for oil. (
Not only has the war in Iraq cost thousands of live and trillions of dollars but it also but the whole world into a recession, yay.
With so many bad economic dominoes falling into place creating a perfect storm of problems for the American economy, ranging from sharply higher energy prices, inflation, and economic and real estate slowdown and a sinking American dollar, you cannot help but blame the failed “ war for oil’ in Iraq as being the corner stone that helped to trigger this latest downfall for the American economy. When one of the world’s superpowers starts to get into a recession everyone gets effected, oil prices sky rocket (ironically) and the car companies that don’t have fuel efficient cars like GM start going out of business and fill for bankruptcy (CBC).
As history has shown us after every war the has been a recession and the war in Iraq caused this one, so all the evidence points to the war in Iraq being a mistake because of all the people that have died and the state it left the whole world in.
